Sad day off ebay!
Well blogosphere, tought I had a big sale on my website last night. Logged in to the merchant site to process it, and found the card was invalid and rejected.

Ebay - the emails never stop coming!
It is like some sort of nightmare I cant escape from!
I still get ebay surveys, deal alert and my favorites delivered to my inbox daily. Prol time to just close that hotmail account
Really torturous. I mean do they think I will BUY anything there still?

I cried when I left Ebay
I cried, I had no idea I would feel such a void! It took up so much time that I felt lost without it. I cried in bed, in the shower, driving the kids to school, watching TV, cooking and more. I should I weaned myself off it, but I quit cold turkey.
It took about 1-2 weeks for the waterworks to finally dry up. Lost a few pounds, too!
To finally come to realize that ebay sales did not define me. And that perhaps I had simply "conquered" ebay, and I needed to find my next great project?
Perhaps that is what is that is confunding me now. I know I will never excel in my trained career - too much time missed now rasin' chillins. Not sure if my next great conquest is this online site off ebay? It just seems like if I could find that next challenge I could hit it hard and get appropriately distracted.

Ebay and TRS
I was never able to keep this for more then one month in a row.
When I was a TRS traffic went up HUGELY, sales went up massively, the percentage of unpaid item cases went up EVEN MORE and wait for it...... NEGATIVES AND CASES also went UP UP UP.
Obviously more purchases by noob buyers who search poorly and are faced unintentionally with your listings and pull the trigger spontaneously then leave feedback. So it would be me with 25000 feedback vs the buyer with a feedback n of "1" who always nailed me to the ground each time.
I mean, thank GOD the ebay community was protected by this buyer who has been on the site for all of 5 minutes but was able to warn everyone against an established seller of 7 years. Thank goodness the world is safe now! Hallelujah!

Seriously, going toWalmart is the most exciting thing I do now all day sometimes.
Now that I dont HAVE ANYTHING TO SHIP, I can do the shopping for the household again.

Easily on ebay I had 2500-3000 visitors per day.
Currently I have only topped 300 (301) once. Most days lower or mid 200s.

Post-ebay amnesia
I used to sleep and breath ebay all day. Never out of my mind, always strategizing, shipping, planning, shipping, arguing, shipping, troubleshooting, shipping and more shipping. All day, and often waking up at night and back at it again.
That's how you do it when you are running a business of "your own". But in fact it was ebay's baby all along and ALL that work was eventually for naught.
Now things are slow and there is next-to-nothing to ship and I forget that I even run an off-ebay business.
I have amnesia for all my old hobbies and I don't even remember what authors or what books I read. I am not even sure if I have any friends left! I sit home all evenings, I dont go out so I am sure that I lost most of them along this long ebay road. I dont remember how to sit at a table and eat - I used to eat and answer questions in front of the laptop.
Do I need to be medicated???

My Ebay (mis)Fortune Cookie

Analytics Addiction
I have the most interested and highly addictive real time analytics on my site. I can see what people search for on google, and where they are searching from.
It is funny to see someone with an IP address for some government institution searching for something lacey and sexy in the middle of the afternoon workday. Our tax dollars at work, I guess.

Life after Ebay Continues
It is very quiet today online, not even 100 hits by noon today. I checked google merchant center and webmaster all seems okay. Maybe just slow out there on google.
Ebay is still fun to check - it is a great source of photos!!!!! I like to go back and read on the ebay discussion boards and read the moaning and groaning and b*tching to know that I finally escaped that downward spiral.
I try to find one thing (or more) new to do everyday with my site. I forget lots of times that I can go in and edit my items even though they have had a sale - those old ebay rules die hard!!
I am almost to order# 100 in my webstore. (What takes a week or less on ebay has taken about 9 months!). Granted for the first 7 months of my online store I ran BOTH sites and really had some traffic issues because I never had time to promote it! So maybe (crosses fingers) now with some more effort the next 100 will come much easier.
